It seems to me that the economy is getting worse and worse and more people are losing their jobs and sadly ... their homes. Money is getting tighter and tighter and there doesn't seem to be much light at the end of the tunnel. One goes out looking for work all day every day applying for jobs and checking up on their applications at low key blue collar jobs such as Taco Bell and McDonalds even and still hardly able to find the work they need in order to survive. Food banks are getting hit hard because it's so hard for people to be able to find a meal these days and soup kitchens are more of a life saver than most ever thought would be needed. This has happened to almost everyone, you may even know someone this has happened to during this day in age if not already happened to you.
The economy is headed for a turn for the worst and it's sad that companies and corporations have no idea how to resolve the issue when it's basic economics. Companies notice that their wallets aren't getting as fat as quickly as they used to so they turn to laying off employees in order to resolve the issue for their wallets, not for the economy. Here's the basic economics of it. If money isn't circulating, then money becomes scarse. When money becomes scarse, there's less spending by the general population. When the general population isn't spending, money circulation slows even more. This leads into recession and eventually to depression.
From the statements above about the basics of economics, can you understand what needs to be done for jobs to be created and money for the public to spend again? You've more than likely guessed it. Those that have a large bulk sum of money need to start spending this money again.
In order to do this, we need to start exporting more goods and import less, bring the jobs to the United States itself rather than going overseas to outsource just because it's cheaper than hiring at home. Sure it'll raise the costs of some goods, but it'd be worth it with the fact that more people will have money to spend for the things they need and want.
Second thing that needs to happen as exporting more goods and outsource less isn't the end of the solution. Major companies and corporations need to start spending money again. Corportations like Wal-Mart that horde money and spend very little on employee saleries actually harm the economy. Sure shopping at Wal-Mart now is a good idea because it's so cheap and you probably have very little money to afford American companies that aren't outsourced elsewhere for all their products and goods, but in the long run, what really is the price for low costs? Wal-Mart employee's barely make enough money to make ends meet.
I remember when I worked at Wal-Mart as a third shift People Greeter, not only was the job boring, it was low pay as well. I would make enough money every month to be able to pay rent and buy a couple sodas, that's it, I'd be broke. If I didn't have Daniel with me as well, he and I both would've been on the streets and starving to death. We did have a problem with getting enough food to eat to feed ourselves. I asked my supervisor if there was a way for us to be able to get assistance with food and she brought me into the GM's office. Lo and Behold what did she pull out? A form to apply for Food Stamps and was told all I had to do was fill it out and Wal-Mart would handle the rest for me. I asked about possibilities of health insurance and BOOM another form for yet another government assistance program, same story, fill it out and they will handle the rest.
So I have to wonder why Wal-Mart has these things in bulk on file and ready for the occassion. It's like they use government assistance programs in place of having an insurance policy of their own to save themselves money. This causes an even bigger strain on the government programs that shouldn't.
Last year of 2008's fiscal year, Wal-Mart alone made $195K a MINUTE. Seriously, that much every minute of every day, every day for the whole year. It's not a joke. With that much money being brought in by Wal-Mart, they seriously could pay their employee's more and treat them better. This goes to same the same for other companies such as AT&T which I've also worked for. They pay their employee's like **** working practically for peanuts for what you do at the call centers and every day AT&T employee's at the call center locations all fear for their jobs. Reason being is that AT&T absolutely just loves firing people for anything they possibly can. This includes West Corporation or West Customer Service Management Group.
Wal-Mart's not the only one that needs reform, ALL major companies and corporations need reform and would be best if the government stepped in and took a little control over companies that got too huge for their own good. Where money or power comes in, comes great corruption. We've seen this in the Romanian government and other world governments, lets not see this anymore in America.
